By purposefully expanding the network in the territory of Latvia, AS Virši-A (hereinafter – Virši), the largest and fastest growing domestic fuel and alternative energy trader, has opened a new service station in Daugavpils – Kārklu iela 22. The Company invested more than two million euros, offering drivers a full range of services, including compressed natural gas (CNG) filling options. The roof of the station is equipped with solar panels that will convert solar energy into electricity for self-consumption.
The newly opened station in Daugavpils is already the 69th Virši service station. Growth plans of the company for the coming years envisage further expansion of the network and investments in infrastructure, opening new and modernising existing fuel and alternative energy service stations in all the regions of Latvia.
“The decision to build a new station and ensure the availability of CNG in the Daugavpils region was made after we won the procurement announced by AS Daugavpils satiksme for fuelling its buses with compressed natural gas. Supporting the company's transition to new, more environmentally friendly city transport, we provided everything necessary for the convenient and simple fuelling of buses,” says Jānis Vība, Chairman of the Board of Virši.
“The strategic plan of Virši for the next few years envisages further expansion of the station network, as well as the implementation of various sustainability-related projects in the Latvian transport sector. We will also aim to strengthen our position in the energy segment, already providing our customer base with new products during the coming year,” emphasises J. Vība.
Daugavpils station commenced operations on 26 August, providing drivers and their passengers with a wide range of services 24/7: various types of fuel, AdBlue liquids for exhaust gas purification, pourable windshield fluid, air and water for car maintenance, as well as a comfortable rest area and a store offering a wide selection of hot food, snacks and drinks.
