With the expanding and modernising of the company’s service station network across Latvia and with improving its product range, the total turnover of the largest domestic fuel trader JSC “Virši-A” reached more than 180 million euros in 2018. The amount of the company’s tax payments exceeded the mark of 30 million euros.
In 2018, the “Virši-A” network consisted of 56 service stations. Over the course of this year, one new service station was opened in Riga, the Rumbula service station, and 14 of the existing service stations were modernised or renovated. In comparison with 2017, the total turnover of the company increased by 21.5%, whereas the retail sales of fuel increased by 8.8% and the retail trade turnover of goods increased by 24.3%. The company's net profit in 2018 reached 3.8 million euros, surpassing the 3.1 million euros of the year before.

This year, we are purposefully implementing our new strategy that will be focused on refreshing our brand's visual identity. Moreover, we will be opening new service stations and continuing the expansion of our product range,” says Jānis Vība, CEO of “Virši-A”.
In 2018, with the development of the company, the number of employees increased by 10% and the “Virši-A” team was made up of 489 employees. "Over the course of the last year, in addition to significant investments in the training of our employees, we also improved the range of employee benefits, as well as launched the new “Viršu skola” training programme, which, in 2018, trained 110 employees," says Jānis Vība, adding that, according to the results of an internal employee survey, 94% of the company’s employees would recommend “Virši-A” as a good employer (the survey was completed by 67% of the “Virši-A” employees).
“Virši-A” looking at fulfilling their ambition
In 2019, JSC “Virši-A” is planning to open up to 7 new service stations. Substantial investments are also planned to be executed in the modernisation of the existing service stations. This year, given current trends and the steady growth of “Virši-A”, the company is planning to refresh its visual identity. The refreshed brand identity will be gradually introduced into all existing and newly opened service stations of the company, as well as through its visual materials and the new “Virši-A” workwear line that will be created by the world-renowned fashion designer Natālija Jansone.
In addition, this year the company is planning to become the Latvian pioneer of a new fuel alternative (compressed natural gas).
